Floyd Akins brings more than 25 years of experience in advancement to his work with Aspen Leadership Group and serves as Vice President for Institutional Advancement at Otterbein University. He has experience in major and principal gift fundraising, diversity in philanthropy, advancement career counseling and consulting, executive search, and advancement organizational structures.
His career includes Vice President for Advancement at the University of Toledo; Associate Vice President for Advancement at Michigan State University; Senior Consultant for Aspen Leadership Group; Assistant Vice Chancellor for Development for the University of Tennessee, Knoxville; Senior Associate Vice President for University Development and Vice President of The Ohio State University Foundation; and in his early career held positions at the University of Iowa Foundation and Grinnell College where he began his career in advancement.
Floyd has been an advocate of inclusion and belonging throughout his career and with CASE has chaired numerous conferences on major and principal gift fundraising in both the US and Canada. He received his BA from Eastern Illinois University and his MA degree from the University of Iowa.
